Sunflower of Peace is known for our medical backpacks filled with tourniquets, bandages, and life-saving supplies, carried by combat medics on the frontlines.
But this time, we are sending a different kind of backpacks — Children’s backpacks.
How This Campaign Started
Three 8th grade students Aryna, Neliia, and Dilia from Warren T. Eich Middle School in California reached out to us as part of their Community Project. They wanted to support children in Ukraine.

And they acted.
They prepared and donated 13 backpacks filled with pencils, crayons, markers, and school supplies.
Their Kindergarten Was Destroyed
At Sunflower of Peace we always aim to send support where it will make the greatest impact. That’s why we chose to help Kindergarten #136 in Kharkiv, which was severely damaged in a missile attack in 2022.
Today, 31 children from this kindergarten continue their education online and once a week in person — in an underground public school in Kharkiv.
Support a child today
We are raising funds for 18 more backpacks, so every one of the 31 children from this kindergarten receives one. Below, you’ll see a real-time count of backpacks already sponsored.
Each backpack costs $30,
which covers:
-
The backpack
-
School supplies
-
Delivery to Ukraine

Backpacks funded
🎉 All 31 backpacks have been funded! Thank you to everyone who sponsored a backpack and showed these children that they are not forgotten.
If you’d like to continue supporting our work and help more children in Ukraine, please consider making a donation. Every contribution makes a difference.
The name of each sponsor will be placed on a tag attached to the backpack as a reminder to a child that someone far away cares about them.

A backpack won’t rebuild a destroyed school.
But it will tell a child:
You are not forgotten.
Your education matters.
Your future matters.
Our very special thank you to Aryna, Neliia, and Dilia for caring so deeply about children in Ukraine and to everyone who is supporting this initiative.
