Name an Ambulance: A Legacy of Compassion on Ukraine’s Front Lines
This entire program began with one donor — Samantha.
Samantha, a retired NYC paramedic who spent years saving lives and never lost the instinct to help. When she learned about the urgent need for ambulances on Ukraine’s front lines, she felt called to act. Her donation to Sunflower of Peace allowed us to purchase and transform a vehicle into a fully equipped ambulance sent to Kherson — one of the most dangerous areas of the war. We named it “Samantha” in her honor.
The ambulance was delivered to Oleksandra Chorna, a mother of three and former accountant who became a combat medic. Today, Oleksandra uses “Samantha” to reach the wounded under fire. For her, the name isn’t just paint — it’s a reminder that people across the world stand with Ukraine.
We created this program to deliver even more ambulances to the front lines — and to connect our donors with the medics whose lives and work they’re directly impacting. See below for the list of vehicles delivered through this initiative.
Why It Matters
Ambulances and evacuation vehicles are among the most urgently needed resources in Ukraine. Medics can’t reach the wounded without them.
To keep medics as safe as possible, every vehicle we deliver is upgraded far beyond a standard ambulance:

Each vehicle is reinforced with Kevlar armor for added protection.

Every evacuation car is equipped with a REB system (electronic warfare unit, costing an additional $4,000) that disrupts hostile drone connections and helps keep the vehicle out of sight.
These upgrades protect both the wounded and the medics who risk everything to reach them.
